I love what God is doing in His church. He is calling us to prayer. We must continue in prayer and wait on God. I hope you are coming to church on Sunday in a spirit of prayer. Sunday should be a great day of expectation. We have worked for the Lord and we are anticipating God to do wonderful things in us and among us. It was great to see Austin and Mattie baptized last Sunday. Let’s keep sharing the Lord at every opportunity. I can’t wait to see what God will do this Sunday. It is great to be the pastor of God’s people.

PRESCHOOL & CHILDREN’S CHOIRS are the place for children to be on Wednesday evenings. I believe that children who start singing in church as preschoolers, and continue through their growing up years, are much more likely to grow to be adults who are confidently involved in music as an expression of corporate worship. All children, age 3 (and potty trained) through grade 6, are welcome in choir on Wednesdays, 6:15 – 7:00 p.m.
STUDENT CHOIR meets Sundays at 5:30 p.m. for all students, grades 7 through college age. This group is about serving the Lord. If you have a heart to serve God, join us, and bring a friend.
ADULT CHOIR song to listen to for next week is p. 54, CD 5. Try to listen to it at least once a day before next Wednesday.
WORSHIP All the Israelites were watching when the fire descended and the glory of the LORD came on the temple. They bowed down with their faces to the ground on the pavement. They worshiped and praised the LORD: For He is good, for His faithful love endures forever. (2 Chronicles 7:3 HCSB)
God’s people don’t just watch worship. When they see it, they join it.
This past Sunday was another great day. The Sunday School time was good, we had new people in it and of course, “a growing Sunday School expects new people.” I am thankful that we have folks in all the areas that are welcoming and friendly. This is what we need to help people feel good about being here so they can hear the gospel message. Afterwards it was wonderful to open our service with baptism. I enjoyed both of our services. It was good to hear how God is moving in Honduras from Jennifer Hernandez. I know you will be praying for that work and supporting it as God leads. Yes, God is leading the people of HBC and it is our responsibility to follow Him. See you this next Sunday.

Awana and Discipleship Training begin this Sunday. Awana begins at 4:45 p.m. and the children are getting very excited about the new year. I know the adults are also preparing for the children. Please pray for them both that God will bless the efforts of our leaders and open the hearts of our children to hear what He wants them to hear.
Discipleship Training will begin at 5:15 p.m. and we are studying “The Call to Follow Christ” by Claude King. Mr. King co-authored “Experiencing God” with Henry Blackaby. This is a 7-week study that will “help new and growing believers strengthen their love relationship with Christ and develop a lifestyle of faithful, fruitful obedience.”
I am excited to say that over 230 people made incredible decisions at MPACT. PRAISE GOD! What an incredible week. It was such a joy to be able to lead the team that put the event together. I am thankful for many volunteers from our church who helped multiple nights with the chaos of 1000-2000 kids a night. God will bless you!
This week we start our new Worship Service for Students and our new Bible Study/Fellowship for College and Young Adults. It’s an exciting time. Pray for these ministries.
I would also like to thank Matt Diaz who came and helped me on Labor Day hang up some lighting in the Upper Room.
Later this week and next week, I will be out of the office. I am taking a few days to rest and recuperate from the awesome summer we had, but will also be traveling this coming Sunday through next Wednesday to Nashville, TN for the Lifeway National Youth Workers Convention. Please pray for travelling mercies for Kevin Miles (youth minister at New Chapel Hill) and myself as we seek to learn new skills in youth ministry.
Blessings,
Bro. Brandon
