Bro. Skip Dean, Pastor, Highland Bapitst Church, West Monroe, Louisiana

I thank God for the moving of the Holy Spirit in our services. It is a joy to welcome Patricia Culpepper into the family of Highland Baptist Church. Let’s keep praying and seeking the Lord.

I love the words penned by Charles Gabriel.

So precious is Jesus, my Savior, my King

   His praise all the day long with rapture I sing;

To Him in my weakness for strength I can cling,

For He is so precious to me.

For He is so precious to me,

For He is so precious to me,

   ‘Tis Heaven below,

   My Redeemer to know,

For He is so precious to me.

That sums it up for me.

Jesus loves you and I love you,

Yours for Revival,

Brother Dean

˜

˜ STUDENT CHOIR did a good job leading worship last night. Thanks everyone!

˜ CHILDREN’S CHOIR, grades 1-5, sang well for worship yesterday morning. They are a blessing.

All children are welcome to join us each Wednesday at 6:15 for choir. Music is so important in the life of the church.

˜ ADULT CHOIR has begun Easter music. Be faithful in rehearsal as we learn it.

Since we’re just starting Easter music, now is a great time to join choir. If you’ve thought about it, just be in rehearsals on Wednesdays at 7:15 p.m. Each week, we stand in front of the church to worship, helping others to worship Him, too. It’s an experience that is enjoyable and inspiring, but, at the same time, humbling. If God is leading, I hope you’ll answer the call and be with us this week.

˜ WE OWE God so much. Our sin is so great. Thank God he took care of that. “He erased the certificate of debt, with its obligations, that was against us and opposed to us, and has taken it out of the way by nailing it to the cross.” (Colossians 2:14 HCSB) Hearts of appropriate gratitude can do nothing less than give their lives for Him.

Awana Grand Prix will be this coming Saturday, February 4 at 10:00 a.m.  It is always a good time to come celebrate the children’s hard work but also to encourage good Christian activities for our children.  I hope that you can make plans to come by the gym to see the excitement as our Awana kids “rev up their engines” and race to the finish.

ESL Literacy Missions Workshop

March 17th & March 24th
8:00 am - 4:00 pm @ NOBTS

The training is a 16 hour workshop designed to equip volunteers to teach English as a Second Language as a mission outreach program. Most church members can participate since trainers can teach conversational English without knowing other languages.

There is no cost for the workshop, but the workbook is $3.74.  Pray and see if this is a ministry that you might be interested in joining.

Sunday School is a fantastic time of Bible Study, fellowship, ministry and encouragement.  There are classes for every age as well as motivated Bible teachers.  It is a time to welcome guests and greet other members and then find out who is absent so you can contact and find out what might be going on in that person’s life.  It is also a time for God to speak to you through His Word to effect a change that He desires so that you can better fulfil the purpose He has for you.

I hope you are a part of such a class and if not, let me know and I will help you find one.

Brandon Rodgers, Minister of Youth and College, Highland Baptist Church, West Monroe

Spin Weekend is quickly approaching.  This is the week.  Bible studies have been written.  Snacks are being bought.  Games are being planned for this fun-filled weekend.  I had someone ask me “What do you do during Spin Weekend?”  We will have Worship, small group Bible studies, and fellowship through lots of high energy fun.  I am thankful for First West to allow us to participate with them.  It gives me the opportunity to just hang out with students.  I love that!  I love these kids and I am praying that revival would begin to break out this weekend.

It’s not too late to sign up.  If you are still interested in having your student (6th-12th grade) attend, we have space for you!

I am very thankful for the folks who have given to help send our students to Spin Weekend.  Also, I am thankful for those who have said they’d bring drinks and snacks for our students.  If you are bringing those please bring them by Friday during office hours.

Pray for our students that they’d make life changing decisions for Christ!

For the Thursday night session, students should arrive before 7 p.m. at First West.  Parents will need to drop off/pickup there.  Thursday’s session is scheduled to end at 8:15.  ON FRIDAY STUDENTS WILL NEED TO MEET AT HIGHLAND AT 6:15 p.m.  Pick up on Sunday will be noon at First West.  If you have any questions, please contact me.

Blessings,
Bro. Brandon
