Preschool & Children's Choirs
Kickoff Pizza Party
Preschool & Children's Choirs begin Wednesday, September 10 at 6:15 p.m. All children age 3 through grade 3 are invited to a pizza party in the Fellowship Hall to kick off the new choir year. Regular choirs meet each Wednesday from 6:15 'til 7:00. Guests are always welcome.
All children benefit from choir. Consider the following thoughts taken from an article by Allison Smith:
Music helps children remember truth. Most adults remember songs they learned as children. The is something about singing that makes words easier to remember.
Music helps children express truth in worship. The emotional aspect of singing can help to express worship in a more complete and satisfying way. Children who learn this can carry on into adulthood.
Music makes kids smarter. Yes, scientific
studies show that music improves brain function.
Music develops a child's coordination. Activities related to music such as steady beat and rhythm develop coordination.
Music improves kids' emotions and self-esteem. "There is a high correlation between positive self-perception, high cognitive competence scores, self-esteem, and interest and involvement in school music."
