After pastoring churches in Texas and Louisiana for thirty-two years, Rev. Lee E. Thomas, realized the need for an educational program in prayer. He resigned the pastorate and began a full time ministry dedicated to teaching people how to pray effectively.

A nationally known author and speaker, Mr. Thomas also holds a Master of Divinity and a Master of Arts in Religious Education from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth Texas.

In 2009, Mr. Thomas’ prayer ministry held 120 workshops based on his book entitled Praying Effectively for the Lost. The book, which is free of charge, has over one million copies in print and has been translated into 28 languages.

On Sunday, August 15, Bro. Thomas will be at Highland to lead a One Day Prayer Revival. Youth and adults will meet in the auditorium during the Sunday School hour, and both the morning and evening worship services will be churchwide events.Based on a formula integrating the world’s population and the estimated percentages of people who have no religious connection or who belong to religions that don’t recognize God, Bro. Thomas estimates that 140,000 souls go to hell every day. His mission is to change this through intercessory prayer.

Lee Thomas’ motto comes from the words of Charles Spurgeon: “If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to hell over our bodies. If they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees. Let no one go there unwarned and unprayed for.”
